Dance Lessons

Hey everybody, interested in some free dance lessons?  Well then, head down to the SDC dance room on December 3rd and 10th during our normal dance times and we will be holding tango and salsa dance lessons those days!  Grab your friends, because if they don’t know how to dance, we’ll gladly teach them, and the basic tango and salsa aren’t difficult to learn, so try your best to get out here and learn these fun dances!  Also, it is confirmed that there will be a live band for the Turkey Day Sendaway, so it should be a very exciting dance.   Bring out your friends, we always could use more members.  Until then, make it to our dance times, and have fun dancing.

Turkey Day Sendaway

Hey everybody, right now there are plans in store for a Thanksgiving dance, on the 19th of November, the Thursday before Thanksgiving.  And even better?  The dance is planned to be free!  If that isn’t good enough, there are also plans to get a live band!  We can’t say for sure, but how could you say no to a live band dance for free?

This will be a semi-formal dance held in the MUB Ballroom.  The dance will begin at 9.  Let all of your friends know, who can turn down a free dance on campus, after all! Also, try to get all of your friends coming to regular dance times.  There are plans to start doing more workshops at regular dance times.  Don’t be ashamed if you’ve never danced before, plenty of our members have never danced before this year, and we love to teach more people!  It looks like workshops will be held more on Thursdays from 9-11, so try to get to those meetings.

We’ll keep updated if anything changes about the dance, but there will also be posters around campus as soon as possible, so keep and eye out, and let all your friends know!

Saturday Night Fright – Halloween Dance

On Saturday, October 31st, Social Dance Club will be having their first dance of their year, the Saturday Night Fright!  Held at the Elks Lodge in Calumet at 25701 Wedge St, there will be swing and tango lessons from 7pm to 9pm, and the dance is from 9pm til Midnight.  The band will be the Uptown Swingsters.

Tickets are $10, and there will be a free dinner provided.  Also, there will be a cash bar.

Since it’s on Halloween, of course you should try to come in a costume, and there will even be a costume contest!  Just be careful not to come in something you can’t dance in, of course.

Dancing In 2008′ – 2009′

Hello all! Welcome back again for another year of dancing fun! There is going to be lots of new events this year that the club is going to tackle. We are going to do the Homecoming dance – October 4th, Parent’s Weekend – the following weekend, and a new event called the Fall Ball week which consists of 7 nights of dancing!

Our new dance times this semester are Fridays and Sundays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the SDC Dance room. For those who want to become instructors within the club, there will be a day that is not announced for people to train to become instructors. Also, we will have weekly meetings this semester that are announced via email.
